Lihue, Poipu/Koloa, Kapaa, Kalaheo

The entire island of Kauai is gorgeous.   The terrain varies from light sandy beaches,  to caves, to mountainous hiking trails as found in Waimea Canyon.

The island of Kauai, although the oldest island in Hawaii,  remains relatively peaceful.   The people are friendly and welcoming. The town of Lihue is considered the hub of the island.   It offers shopping, major chain stores, the court house and county buildings.  It is popular with restaurants/shops  and the sights and attractions of Kalapaki Beach.   You can learn to paddle board, or get a massage at the beach.  There are beautiful places to stay up on the cliff of Kalapaki Circle.  These are individual homes that are vacation rentals.  The views are stunning.  The Marriott is the largest hotels in the Lihue area, and offers beauty, amenities, and an excellent location.

The city of Lihue has many beautiful residential neighborhoods,  and several pristine golf courses.  It is centrally located.  It is only a 20 minute drive to the south shore Poipu/Koloa, and is only 20 minutes from the charming beach town of Kapaa on the east shore.  Both areas offer beautiful beaches and lots of local charm.
